In a rather unusual but marvellous form of garden sale, the Independent newspaper is auctioning off its gardening writer.
If you are feeling generous this Christmas you can rent the services of the Independent’s gardening correspondent, author and garden restorer Anna Parvord.
As well as chairing the Gardens Panel of the National Trust and sitting on the Parks and Gardens Panel of English Heritage, Anna also presents gardening programmes for BBC Radio 3 and 4.
Her extraordinary expertise will be the festive prize for the highest bidder in the Independent’s Charity Auction of the year. The auction is in aid of the Independent’s Christmas Appeal, which will see all the money raised being split between children’s charities Barnardo’s, ChildHope and Children on the Edge.
If you have petulant petunias or mardy marrows, celebrated gardening writer Anna Pavord will visit your garden, advise you on how to transform the forest of weeds into an oasis of splendour, and write about it in her column.
