Love keeping chickens but hate cleaning up after your feathery friends? You’re in luck… it is now possible to buy nappies for chickens!

As we know, keeping chickens can sometimes be a messy business. But with these custom garments your birds can roam free, no longer a prisoner of their own chicken house.

Who cares if your friends and family consider it a little wacky! There are plenty of benefits to using chicken nappies.

They’re great for:

• Injured hens that need time to recuperate indoors.

• Show-birds that need to be separated from the flock in the months before a show.

• Beloved family pets who you wouldn’t dream of leaving outside in the rain.

• Adding a unique touch of class to your poultry companion!

• Collecting chicken manure to use on the garden

When purchasing chicken nappies you may want to consider the following advice;

Size

Each order is custom made so it is important to choose the correct size nappy for your chicken. The usual range is small, medium and large, but some retailers now offer an extra small and extra large size. Whatever type of chicken you have, there will be a suitable nappy. Generally the smaller nappies are for Bantams, while the larger ones are suitable for poultry such as Buckeyes.

Material

Generally chicken nappies are made out of machine washable material, but it is important to check before purchasing.

You can get the nappy in a wide range of patterns, from spots and stripes to pirate print. Be creative and give your chicken a little bit of style!

Fitting

A bird needs a tail knob and stiff tail feathers to wear a nappy. Stiff tail feathers normally develop 4 weeks from birth, therefore it is not always possible to fit juvenile chickens with nappies.

With chicken nappies you’ll soon be clucking with joy… keeping your house clean and the poop in the coop!

Just to let you know that diaper on the chicken above picture was NOT made by her. It was made by me and have proof to do so according to the pics I take. Her diapers are entirely made different than mine. I made that diaper for that hen who was an inside house chicken. .lol..who belongs to a lady by the name of Amber on BYC. . My chicken diapers and chicken saddles are sold on Ebay under Moodene.

Hens are not meant to wear nappies. daft idea!

I am reporting these to the RSPCA and other such bodies as these go against animal welfare issues. They are cruel and pointless. If you keep hens you should be prepared for the mess (which is easily cleaned up), otherwise keep something else you are prepared to look after properly. Whoever invented these should grow up and get with reality. Hens poo a lot and to wear one of these would cause an infection let alone make a mess of the hens feathers and would also cause distress. I am not going to let this lie and I am going to do my damnest to make sure this pathetic item is outlawed.
