The Royal Bath & West Gardening Show has awarded Dobbies a Gold Medal for its Eco Garden. With 26 000 visitors through the gate this year, and held just south of Shepton Mallet, The Royal Bath & West of England Society has been working hard for over 230 years and hosts the Bath & West show every year.
Dobbies Wins Gold at Bath & West Flower Show
This year the Dobbies Shepton Mallet team entered their ‘Eco Garden’, based on the current trend of ‘Grow Your Own’, and were delighted to receive a Gold Medal for their efforts. Dobbies’ 1920s themed garden has been designed to promote eco-friendly living, featuring a home office with solar powered lighting, allowing home owners to cut down on their carbon footprint by working from home in a functional, yet attractive, location.
The display garden features a number of initiatives being promoted by Dobbies including ‘grow your own’ fruit and vegetables and the revival of keeping chickens in your back garden, providing a degree of self-sufficiency.
Dobbies Shepton Mallet General Manager Simon Malley said “Our staff are over the moon, this is the first year we have entered a display garden at the Bath & West Gardening Show, after our store opening in June 2009, and to win gold is a great encouragement and recognition for everyone involved.”
Popular visitors to Bath & West this year included Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, Leader of the Opposition David Cameron and The Cannonball Man Dave Smith.
